Self-care Based On Your Zodiac Sign
The full moon and summer solstice inspired this article. The longest day of the year combined with the full moon made me realize I need to do a little self-care of my own. I thought I would share some self-care tips based on your specific zodiac sign. These self-care ideas come from the book Astrology Magick written by Lindsay Squire. Which is a beginners guide to astrology and learning how to use our resources and nature to love ourselves and align with the wisdom of the stars.
Self-care is different for everyone, and something that I like to do for self-care may not be the same thing you like to do for self-care. You may also find that the self-care ideas written for your specific zodiac sun sign may not be anything you like to do at all either. Maybe you resonate with your moon sign more than your sun sign/star sign. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about when I say your Moon sign you can do a free moon reading HERE.)
Your Moon Sign is more about who you are when no one is looking. It represents your emotions, and how you express yourself when you’re at ease or comfortable. I am an Aquarius Sun Sign, and a Lunar Virgo. I was also born on a full moon so this means I have always had a need for balance – especially since the day I was born the sun and moon were exactly opposite of each other. I think that’s why I started writing again… was to find my balance in the world of extremes.

But the point of all that is, if you don’t feel like you resonate with the self-care ideas for your zodiac sun sign then read some of the others and see how you feel about those! We all have different needs at different times, follow your gut (your intuition) and do what feels right for you.
The signs are grouped by their elements (earth, air, fire, water)
Earth Signs
Taurus
Taurus is re-energized through connection with the natural world, and enjoys the comforts of life. (especially those that heighten one or more of the senses)
Ideas for Taurus Self-Care:
Burning essential oils, favorite scented candle, incense, or spray your favorite perfume/fragrance
At the same time as burning oils or your favorite scent play your favorite music and wear comfy clothes
Take care of a houseplant, or go out and find a plant that you feel connected with, bring it home, care for it, and watch it grow
Taurus rules the throat and neck – keep your throat chakra balanced with neck stretches or other stretches that can release tension in this area
Carry blue crystals with you like: aquamarine, lapis lazuli, and celestite
Virgo
Self-care for Virgos is VERY important since Virgos have a tendency to overthink things and worry. (This is my lunar sign and very much what happens to me 😂)
Ideas for Virgo Self-Care:
- Gardening can help create feelings of inner peace or simply connecting with nature in some way can help you feel more grounded
- Meditation and mindfulness can help calm and quiet your mind
- Crystals to carry (or place them in your bed at night) are rose quartz, blue lace agate, amethyst and selenite
- Make an achievable (and realistic) list of tasks you want to complete for the day, and feel the satisfaction of crossing them off your list once you complete them (I also love lists lol)
- Virgos like to live and work in clean neat environments so clean your space, or tidy up the house a bit (I like to deep clean things when I get a little anxious)
- Expand your knowledge by reading a book that interests you! Do research about something you have interest in, read a book about another world, or read something that you already know and love (I love reading all types of books and researching things)

Capricorn
Capricorns tend to be workaholics because they have such drive and ambition which can cause you to overwork and burn yourself out. (If you feel like this could be you, but maybe not sure check out these 14 Signs and Symptoms of Burnout)
Ideas for Capricorn Self-Care:
- Use or carry crystals like smoky quartz, citrine, and carnelian to help give you an energy boost
- Make sure you get enough sleep. So take a nap if you need one, and set up a calming bedtime routine that doesn’t involve electronics. (ie. take a bath, drink some tea, read a book)
- Learn something new!
- Yoga is a form of self-care that appeals to capricorns because it helps to reduce anxiety, but everything you do – from breathing to the poses – can always be improved
- Go on a nature walk
- Appreciate and take some time for the smaller things (a sunset, the wind in your hair, the sun on your skin)
- Reward yourself after completing small tasks that you have set for yourself (cleaned the kitchen, take yourself out for a nice cup of coffee. Finished all your errands, enjoy watching your favorite show for a little bit)
Air Signs
Gemini
Geminis (like all air signs) love to expand their knowledge in all areas. You enjoy doing research as much as you like to expand your mind.
Ideas for Gemini Self-Care:
- Read a book about something new or something else you like, but make time to read it everyday
- Go for a meditative walk to let your mind wander without distractions
- Do your favorite form of exercise to burn off some steam (My husband is a Gemini and MUST do some sort of physical activity otherwise he goes nuts)
- Spend time with friends or family that make you feel at ease
- Challenge your analytical and logical mind with a puzzle or a game
Libra
Librans tend to put others first so they often need to be reminded that self-care is NOT selfish. The best form of self-care for Librans is to set aside time to do whatever it is that you enjoy.
Ideas for Libra Self-Care:
- Set aside time to do anything that you like to do
- Give yourself alone time to process your thoughts and what is currently happening in your life now
- Start journaling or expressing yourself and feelings through writing. By putting your thoughts on paper you can make better sense of them and add some perspective

- Carry crystals like citrine, ametrine, rose quartz, clear quartz, and lapis lazuli to restore your balance
- Drink detoxifying drinks like tea made from dandelion, nettle, or red clover. Libra is associated with the kidneys, lower back, and endocrine system
Aquarius
Aquarius tend to be excellent problem solvers, and they strive to solve everyone else’s problems. This can lead to burn out very quickly. We need to give our brains a regular timeout away from all the stress. (This is my Zodiac Sign – Hey there to all my Aquarian friends 🥰)
Ideas for Aquarius Self-Care:
- Puzzles and games, since it challenges our brains, but also brings our attention to the present moment helping us to stay mindful
- Put down the Phone! I have to do this constantly. Being exposed to problems online, on TV, and social media can be a huge source of stress. So putting down technology and stepping away from our phone can be a great form of self-care
- Yoga
- Exercise of your liking
- Carrying crystals like amethyst, celestite, blue lace agate, and fluorite
- Read a book! (This is my favorite form of self-care 😍)

Fire Signs
Aries
Aries can sometimes struggle to stay focused. So making a list of goals and different projects you want to get done can be very helpful with not spreading yourself too thin.
Ideas for Aries Self-Care:
- Exercise! Anything that’s high energy and will make you sweat
- Go outside for a run
- Burning essential oils like lavender, patchouli, cedarwood, and chamomile
- Listening to your favorite music
- Develop a good bedtime routine
- Have a cup of tea before bed like chamomile, lavender, and passionflower
Leo
Leo is a competitive sign, and loves to be challenged. So you need an outlet that can help blow off some steam as well as challenge your competitiveness.
Ideas for Leo Self-Care:
- Take part in a competitive sport (football, tennis, basketball, volleyball)
- If you don’t like ball sports try running with someone who challenges you, set a goal to achieve while at the gym, take a crossfit class
- Get creative. Try painting, knitting, playing with play-doh
- Get an adult coloring book
- Meditation to help with your perfectionist side since it can help clear your mind of chatter and stress
- Learn calm breathing techniques
- Yoga and light stretching
Sagittarius
Sagittarians love to travel and explore new places. Plus, you love to try new things. Try a day trip to someplace close to home that you’ve never been to before.
Ideas for Sagittarius Self-Care:
- Bring some variation into your daily routine
- Take up a new hobby or try something that you don’t normally do (a cooking class, learn a new language)
- Exercise! If you already do, but feel uninspired, change up your workout routine. Try a new sport, sign up for a different type of workout class
- Sagittarius rules the hips, thighs, and butt – any exercise that activates these areas of the body is perfect
- Yoga to open your hips
- Wear crystals like carnelian, tiger’s eye, citrine, orange calcite, and sunstone to help balance energy
Water Signs
Cancer
Cancerians have natural empathy so they take on a lot of energy from loved ones or people they are close with. This can lead to high stress levels. So alone time is crucial for this sign.
Ideas for Cancer Self-Care:
- Regular alone time to recharge
- Balance alone time with spending time with family
- Take a walk near a body of water, go swimming, or take a bath (you are a water sign 😉)
- Use epsom salts during your bath – rose petals, lemon balm, eucalyptus or peppermint
- Cancerians are homebodies of the zodiac so home improvement projects can be a form of self-care
- Clean your home or office space to help create a clean and safe place for you while you think
Scorpio
Scorpios are known for their intensity. So you can benefit from a form of self-care that helps to slow your mind.
Ideas for Scorpio Self-Care:
- Exercise! Anything that is high intensity or really challenges you
- Water sports like kayaking, surfing, canoeing, water aerobics
- Journaling. This one may be hard for some Scorpios, but can bring multiple mental and emotional benefits as it allows you to explore your emotions and feelings in your own way and time
- Carrying or wearing obsidian, tiger’s eye, moonstone, carnelian, and agate will help keep energies grounded.
- Meditation – Breathing exercises
- Yoga
- Reading! Lindsey (the author from Astrology Magick) suggests reading about the occult or something new to expand your knowledge
Pisces
Pisceans are kind and generous by nature, but they can be taken advantage of by others because of this kindness. So self-care is very important for your well-being.
Ideas for Pisces Self-Care:
- Low-energy exercise: walking, yoga, pilates, tai-chi
- Invigorating activities like swimming can be helpful for Pisces to recharge
- Pisceans are creative so do some drawing, painting, coloring, quilting or whatever creative outlet you enjoy most
- Pisces rule the feet – anything that takes care of this part of the body can be a form of self-care (reflexology, foot massage, pedicure)
- Soak your feet in a warm epsom salt bath with essential oils
- Place amethyst, lapis lazuli, or sodalite on your third eye
