Why This Full Moon in Virgo Feels Intense

The Full Moon in Virgo is always a time of clarity, cleansing, and organization. But this year, it carries even greater significance as it aligns with a powerful lunar eclipse—a cosmic turning point that urges us to release, refine, and realign.

And I’m feeling this one deeply—because Virgo is my lunar sign. This eclipse is stirring up emotions, pulling me inward, and making me hyper-aware of the little things that need tending to. But it’s not just me. My son, who is a Virgo sun, is feeling it just as intensely. His emotions are big right now—outbursts, frustration, moments of pent-up aggression that come out in sharp bursts. It’s like looking in a mirror, except the reflection is a smaller, wilder version of myself who hasn’t yet learned how to process it all.

So this eclipse? It’s a family affair.

Why I Write These Moon Cycle Posts

Over the past year, I’ve been diving deeper into astrology—not just as something fun to explore, but as a way to hold myself accountable to learning and honoring myself in a new way. Writing these lunar posts helps me track my growth, notice the patterns, and tune into what the universe is asking of me.

Each moon cycle is a checkpoint, a moment to reflect and realign. I know I still have so much to learn, but that’s the beauty of it—I get to grow with it. And through these posts, I get to share what I’m experiencing in real-time, in the hopes that maybe you’ll find something that resonates, too.

Virgo’s Energy: Order in the Chaos (My Favorite)

Virgo, the meticulous earth sign ruled by Mercury, is known for its sharp analytical mind, deep sense of purpose, and ability to bring order to chaos. (I think this is why I always say that I live in organized chaos.) Under the influence of this sign, we’re encouraged to focus on the details that truly matter, the habits that support our well-being, and the subtle shifts that can lead to long-term growth.

But with an eclipse amplifying this energy, it’s not just about making a to-do list or decluttering your space (though, let’s be honest, that’s always a good idea). This lunar event is about clearing out what no longer serves us on a much deeper level—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

And when I look at my son—when I see him wrestling with his own emotions—I realize that this isn’t just about me. It’s about guiding him through this too. Teaching him how to release his emotions in a healthy way, how to calm himself when he feels overwhelmed.

I can’t tell him to regulate his emotions if I’m not regulating mine.

My husband joins in, helping to navigate the waves of emotions. Even my mom, who’s visiting right now, is part of the process. We’re all in this together, learning as we go, supporting each other, growing through the messiness of it all. (And it’s been VERY messy lately lol)

My main take away about Virgo energy—it’s about improvement, not perfection.

Lunar Eclipses: Fated Endings & Transformations

Eclipses have a way of accelerating destiny and revealing truths we may have overlooked. This lunar eclipse in Virgo is about seeing the flaws in our systems—not as failures, but as opportunities to refine and improve.  We can ask ourselves: Where in my life am I holding onto perfectionism? What structures need an upgrade? Where have I been micromanaging instead of trusting the flow?

This eclipse serves as a reality check, but it’s not here to knock us down—it’s here to show us a better way forward. It’s a course correction, helping us shift from unhealthy patterns into something more aligned with your highest good.

And for me, that means embracing the big creative project that’s been calling to me. I won’t say too much yet, but I can feel it—the pull toward bringing it to life. This eclipse season is pushing me toward it, whispering that now is the time to focus, to clear space for what’s coming.

Themes of the Virgo Full Moon Eclipse

  • Releasing Perfectionism – Let go of the belief that things have to be perfect before you take action. Progress is better than perfection.

  • Cleansing & Healing – Whether it’s your physical space, your body, or your mind, this is a great time for detoxification and purification.

  • Work, Routines & Habits – Are your daily habits supporting the life you want? What needs adjusting?

  • Service & Purpose – Virgo is a sign deeply connected to service. How are you using your gifts to contribute to something greater?

  • Health & Wellness Check-In – A perfect time to assess your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Rituals for the Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse in Virgo

Since lunar eclipses are about release and transformation, this is a time for letting go rather than manifesting. Here are a few ways to align with the energy:

    1. Declutter with Intention – Clean your space with the mindset of creating energetic flow. I’ve been doing one small area a day—because the little things add up.

    2. Write a Release List – Journal about habits, beliefs, or patterns you’re ready to let go of. Burn the paper as a symbolic release.

    3. Grounding Meditation – Virgo is an earth sign, so connect with nature. Walk barefoot outside, touch the earth, or meditate on stability and clarity.

    4. Gut Health & Body Reset – Since Virgo rules digestion, this is a great time to nourish your body with clean, wholesome foods and plenty of hydration.

    5. Sacred Bath or Shower Ritual – Cleanse your energy by adding sea salt or essential oils to your bath. Visualize releasing old energy as the water washes over you.

    6. Small But Intentional Actions – I’ve been doing 2 pushups every time I go up or down the stairs. Tiny, intentional actions that build into something bigger. Because that’s what this eclipse is about—small, meaningful shifts that create real change.

Affirmation for the Full Moon Cycle

Choose a keyword and write a personal affirmation for what you want to release from your life, what you want to let go of or what you want to forgive yourself for, based on the archetypal energy.

Example: “I am grateful for my discerning mind. I release the need for perfection.”

Journal Prompts and Soul Questions for Full Moon in Leo.

  1. Celebration and gratitude: Select one of the keywords and celebrate that feeling or trait in your life. Gratitude is a powerful emotion, helping us maintain our state of physical and emotional wellbeing. By practicing thankfulness on each Full Moon, we get into a rhythm of visualizing our dreams on the New Moon, and expressing those dreams outwardly on the Full Moon. You can use the idea of celebration and gratitude as a journaling prompt: consider how the keyword you choose is present in your life, and how you want it to manifest more. Then think about how you can celebrate this keyword more. By being mindful and aware of the blessings we have, and celebrating those amazing things will, in time, open your mind and to even more things to be grateful about.

Like calls to like 🙂 – Which makes perfect sense to me now… If you have ever heard that phrase before drop in the comments where you first heard it! – I’m sure I probably heard it in my life before, but it finally registered in my brain the first time I read it in “A Court of Thorns and Roses” – By Sarah J Maas

  2. Inner Critic: How do you approach your inner critic and how much power does this voice have over you? At the height of the cycle of Virgo, you can use your discernment to help you heal. Th dinner critic is often there to help and protect us, so you can use a simple technique of conversation with this voice to rebut the negativity it would have you believe. You can also just simply thank your inner critic for the warning and say that you’ll choose to do it on your own. Then, LET GO, and forgive yourself and the critic.
  3. Service to others: At the height of the Virgo Moon Cycle, when you can appreciate being able to help others, try to be honestly aware of whether helping others comes at the cost of your own physical or mental health. How can you bring balance into this area of your life, and release your need to be of service so that you don’t sacrifice your own well being?

"Express gratitude for any part of your life that is whole and well, and stay grounded in your routine to prevent yourself from being overwhelmed by negative thoughts"

I am a big believer of keeping books and bookstores alive! (Even though I love my Kindle) So I have provided two options if you wanted to grab your own copy from a local store. Every purchase through Bookshop financially supports your local and independent bookstores near you!  Or if you get all your books through Amazon (you don’t need to explain your reasons) I have also linked it through Amazon.

I make sure that I support local bookstores the best I can by purchasing some of my books through them when I can, but Amazon is a great resource too. So you know, it’s called balance…just like everything in life. 🙂

We all know the moon. We all have a relationship with it. The earliest people obeyed her orbit, timed their months and holidays and celebrations and agriculture to the moon; the echoes of that system are still visible today, though the connection to the moon is often forgotten.

Final Thoughts: The Full Moon and Eclipse in Virgo

This Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse in Virgo is a powerful moment of realignment and redirection. It’s an opportunity to refine your path, cleanse your energy, and step forward with clarity. Instead of getting lost in the pursuit of perfection, embrace the beauty of progress.

For me, that means releasing my need to be a ‘perfect’ parent by guiding my son through his emotions, leaning into my creative project that’s been calling me, and making small shifts in my daily life that will add up to something greater. The power to shape my future is in my hands.

One step at a time. One deep breath at a time. One push-up at a time.

Trust that whatever is shifting now is happening for a reason. The universe is always nudging you toward your highest good—sometimes with a whisper, and other times with an eclipse.
